Syncing reservations with Google Calendar

Add table bookings to your Google Calendar automatically

Written by Andy Cargill

You can connect Google Calendar so new and updated bookings appear there automatically. Creating, updating, or rescheduling a booking adds or updates a calendar event. Cancelling a booking or marking it as a no show removes the linked event.

You connect one Google account and choose one calendar for your Zapiet Eats account. This applies to all restaurants.

Considerations

  • You need a Google account with Google Calendar.

  • Connecting opens a new browser window. Allow pop-ups for Zapiet Eats if your browser blocks them.

  • Sync applies to your whole account. It is not set separately for each restaurant.

Connect Google Calendar

  1. Click Settings.

  2. Click Google Calendar.

  3. Click Connect Google Calendar.

  4. Complete the sign-in in the new window. This page will update automatically once connected.

  5. If the page does not update, click Refresh status.

Google Calendar is now connected. You will see Connected as with the Google account email address.

Choose a calendar

After you connect, choose which calendar should receive bookings. By default, we use your Primary calendar.

  1. Click Settings.

  2. Click Google Calendar.

  3. Under Calendar, select the calendar you want to use.

Your choice is saved automatically.

What syncs to Google Calendar

When Google Calendar is connected:

  • Creating or updating a booking adds or updates a calendar event.

  • Rescheduling a booking updates the event date and time.

  • Cancelling a booking or marking it as a no show removes the linked calendar event.

Events use the restaurant’s timezone. Titles include the guest name and party size. Details can include the restaurant name and guest contact information when available.

Disconnect Google Calendar

  1. Click Settings.

  2. Click Google Calendar.

  3. Click Disconnect.

  4. In the Disconnect Google Calendar confirmation, click Disconnect.

Google Calendar is now disconnected. New booking updates will no longer sync.

Notes

  • Only one Google account can be connected at a time.

  • Changing the selected calendar applies to future booking updates.

  • For day-to-day booking management, take a look at our Managing reservations guide.

Limitations

  • Disconnecting stops future sync. Zapiet Eats does not remove all existing calendar events when you disconnect. Linked events are removed when a booking is cancelled or marked as a no show while Google Calendar is still connected.

  • If Google access expires or is removed, reconnect Google Calendar in Settings.

  • Staff need access to Settings to connect or disconnect Google Calendar.
