To start taking orders, you must activate the Zapiet Eats widget on your Shopify theme. Think of this as unlocking the front door of your restaurant so customers can walk in and browse your menu.

Key considerations

Before you begin, keep these best practices in mind to ensure a smooth setup:

  • Theme Specific: The widget must be enabled on each theme individually. If you switch themes, you will need to repeat this process.

  • Automatic Updates: Once enabled, the widget updates automatically whenever a new version is released.

  • Compatibility: Our widget is designed to work with all themes from the Shopify Theme Store. If you are using a custom-built theme, please reach out to us at [email protected] for assistance.

  • Safety First: We recommend creating a duplicate of your live theme and installing the widget there first. This allows you to test everything without affecting your customers' current experience.

Enabling Zapiet Eats on your theme

Follow these steps to activate the widget:

  1. From the Zapiet Eats dashboard, click Settings, then select Themes.

  2. Find the theme you want to work on and click Preview in theme.

  3. This will automatically open the Shopify Theme Customizer.

  4. In the App embeds section on the left sidebar, toggle the Zapiet Eats widget to On.

  5. Click Save.

Testing and going live

Once the widget is enabled in your customizer, it is important to verify that it looks and functions exactly as you expect.

  • Preview the Theme: In your Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes, locate your duplicate theme, and click Preview.

  • Incognito Testing: We strongly recommend testing the preview in an incognito or private browser window. This prevents any caching issues showing you outdated information.

  • Publishing: When you're satisfied with how the widget works, return to your Shopify Theme settings and click Publish to make the changes live for all customers.
