When you have configured the pickup, delivery and/or shipping settings within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery, we recommend creating a test order.

Follow the Shopify test order article on how to enable test payment methods if your store is not live.

If your store is live, you can:

  • Create an order with one of your existing products, and then cancel and refund it

  • Create a free test product, and after testing set the status to draft to remove the product from your live site

  • Create a Shopify discount code (100%) for either the order value, or the shipping/delivery rate to avoid making any payments

Create a test order

To create a test order, follow our video tutorial or the written steps.

  1. Preview the theme where you've installed the Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery widget. For more information, take a look at our Enabling the cart widget on your theme article.

  2. Add a product to the cart, and go to the cart page.

  3. In the Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery widget, select one of the checkout methods (pickup/delivery/shipping), and add the details. Check if the rules you've set up in the settings are showing up correctly in the calendar.

  4. Click Check out.

Further steps will slightly differ depending on the checkout version that you're using. Learn more in Shopify One-page checkout article.

One-page checkout

  1. On the checkout page, add the customer details.
The wording should be changing depending on the checkout method you have selected—you can read more in our Changing the checkout wording depending on the delivery option article.

  2. Then, you will see the rates. If you are using Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates, only the rates relevant for your selected method should be showing.
Take a look at our Rates setup guide for more information.

  3. Continue to payment, and complete the order.
Follow the Shopify test order article on how to enable testing payment methods if your store is not live. If your store is live, you can create a real order and then cancel it and refund it.

  4. When you complete the order, you will see the order status page.

Check order details

  1. In Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery, open the Orders tab and click on the test order.

  2. Check the details.

After you've created the order, check that:

  • You've received the order confirmation with the correct details

  • The order is showing in your Shopify orders, with the correct details and tags.
