AxleHire provides a last-mile delivery service for your local delivery orders.

To automatically send your orders to AxleHire, we recommend connecting your AxleHire account to Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery.


  • You need to be on the Essential plan or higher on Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery.

  • Your store must be located in the US.

  • Your store will need access to the Carrier Service API, and Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery will need to be added as a carrier to your domestic shipping profile.

  • You must have an active AxleHire account and API key.

    • Contact your AxleHire account manager and ask them for an API key to use with Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery.

  • You must have the delivery date and time picker enabled within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery.

    • Enable this in Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery > Settings > Local Delivery.

Activate AxleHire

  1. Within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery, open Settings and click Last mile delivery.

  2. Click Activate AxleHire.

  3. Enter your AxleHire API key and click Activate Axlehire.

AxleHire has now been activated—to finish setting up, you need to configure your settings.

Configure settings

  1. Add a support email address.
    This will be used to notify you if there is an error when scheduling an order.

  2. Select the locations AxleHire should handle deliveries for.
    Not all locations need to be selected if you're using more than one delivery service.

  3. For all ticked locations, you need to add a contact name and a valid contact phone number.

  4. You can choose to add tracking details to each order.
    With this setting enabled, your orders will automatically be fulfilled in Shopify.

  5. Click Save.

Orders should now be sent to AxleHire when they are created. If you are creating test orders, make sure your pickup and delivery addresses are different.

Configure rates

Our AxleHire integration does not currently provide dynamically calculated rates. You should instead create your delivery rates within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery or integrate another compatible app.

Configure Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates

If you're not using AxleHire for rates, the phone number field in the checkout should be a required section. You can set this in Shopify admin > Checkout > Customer information.

  1. Within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery, click Rates.

  2. Configure the settings.
    You can change the price for delivery, the rate name, or add a third-party carrier.

Disable AxleHire

If you would like to stop using AxleHire, you can disable it.

  1. Within Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery, open Settings and click Last mile delivery.

  2. Find AxleHire and click Configure settings.

  3. Click Disable AxleHire.


  • Canceled orders in Shopify will also be canceled in AxleHire.



  • Ensure you are using the correct API key.

  • Add a Contact name and Contact phone number to all locations AxleHire handles deliveries for.

  • Add a support email address to get notifications about failed orders.
