Zapiet Eats can tag each product with the name of the menu section it belongs to. You can then add a tag filter in Shopify Search & Discovery so customers filter a collection by those section names.
This is for your Shopify theme collections. It does not change how sections appear on the Zapiet Eats ordering page.
Before you begin
Create a menu with sections and products.
Install Shopify Search & Discovery, or another app that can filter collections by product tags.
Staff need permission for Settings in Zapiet Eats and permission to edit your theme.
Turn on section tags
In Zapiet Eats, go to Settings > Widget settings.
Find Tag items based on menu section.
Turn the setting on.
Click Save.
Saving the setting starts a sync of section-name tags for products already on your menus. Allow the sync to finish, then check a product in Shopify before creating the filter.
Add a tag filter in Search & Discovery
Open Shopify Search & Discovery.
Click Filters.
Click Add filter.
In Source, select Tags.
Optionally change the Filter label. Use a customer-facing name such as Menu sections.
Set the logic to OR condition.
Select the menu section tags you want customers to use.
Click Save.
Show filters on the theme
Exact labels vary by theme. A typical Online Store 2.0 collection looks like this.
In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Customize next to the published theme.
Open the collection template, often from Home page > Collections > Default collection.
Select Product grid.
Enable filtering if the theme has Enable filtering.
Click Save.
Open the collection on your storefront and check that selecting a section returns the expected products. Your theme must support Shopify storefront filters. See Shopify’s filter setup guide for theme requirements and filter behavior.
Turn tagging off
In Zapiet Eats, go to Settings > Widget settings.
Turn off Tag items based on menu section.
Click Save.
Saving the setting starts removal of the section-name tags managed by Zapiet Eats. Remove the Tags filter separately in Search & Discovery if you no longer want to offer it.
