Configure widget settings

Control how the Zapiet Eats theme widget shows services, locations, and wording, and add a Google Maps key when you need address autocomplete.

Written by Andy Cargill

Widget settings lets you choose how customers find a location and enter their order details. Some settings also apply to the ordering page. Use Customize the ordering page for that page's layout and product cards.

Before you begin

Open widget settings

  1. In Zapiet Eats, go to Settings > Widget settings.

Services and locations

In Location, turn on Allow customers to select delivery location to let customers choose their delivery location. When it is off, the closest eligible location is assigned automatically.

Set Geolocation country to help address searches target the country where your locations operate. If App proxy address search provider is shown, it controls address lookup on the dedicated ordering page. Review the Google Maps key requirements before changing it.

For the theme widget, map controls can show the pick-up location or delivery address and let customers adjust a delivery pin. These controls are not shown for every storefront setup.

In Delivery option order, drag the services to set the order of Pickup, Delivery, and Dine-in in the widget. Location settings still control whether each service is offered.

Use Show location address and Show location name for delivery when you want that information visible in the widget.

Group locations by type

  1. In Location types, click Add location type.

  2. Enter the location type name and any translations, then click Confirm.

  3. Click Save on Widget settings to create the type before leaving the page.

  4. Assign that type to the relevant locations. See Create a location.

  5. Turn on the available Filter by location type controls if customers need to narrow the location list.

  6. Use Sort by location type, then by distance to group matching types together.

  7. Click Save for changes to the page settings.

Customer details and ordering behavior

  • Show order notes field displays the notes field when the widget opens.

  • Preselect first available date and time selects the earliest available pick-up or delivery slot.

  • Show apartment unit field for delivery lets customers provide their unit number. Turn on Require apartment unit field only when you need it for every delivery; a hidden field cannot be required.

  • Disable automatic modal popup stops the theme widget opening automatically. Before enabling this option, make sure customers can still open the widget using a button or link on your storefront.

Click Save, then check the affected service on your storefront.

Wording on this page

Top bar button labels for pick-up, delivery, and dine-in change the button that opens the widget. They do not rename the service buttons inside the widget. Leave a label blank to use its translation. Other storefront wording is in Customize text and design.

Tag products with menu sections

Turn on Tag items based on menu section if you want Shopify products tagged with their menu section name. Use that to add a collection filter on your theme. See Filter products by menu sections.

Google Maps API key

To use your own Google Maps keys, turn on Enable custom Google Maps API key, then click Manage beside the key setting. Follow Create a Google Maps API key for key setup, validation, and saving.

If the app says the key is managed by Zapiet support, contact support instead of replacing it. Some stores must save a valid key before going live.

Daily product availability

Automatically reset product availability daily restores product availability at the start of each day. Turn it off if products you mark unavailable must remain unavailable until staff enable them again. See Manage product inventory.

Save your changes

  1. Review the sections you changed.

  2. Click Save.
