Metrobi provides a last-mile delivery service for your local delivery orders.

To automatically send your orders to Metrobi, we recommend connecting your Metrobi account to Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery. We are compatible with both their driver network and their software only option.

Metrobi is available in cities across the US. You can find their full list of locations here: https://metrobi.com/locations/

Requirements

  • You need to be on the Essential plan or higher with Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery

  • Your store must be located in the US.

  • You must have an active Metrobi account and API key.

    • Contact your Metrobi account manager and ask them for an API key to use with Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery.

  • You must have our delivery date and time picker enabled.

    • Enable this in Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery > Settings > Local Delivery.

    • Delivery slots must be at least an hour long (e.g. 9:00AM-10:00AM, 2:00PM-5:00PM).

Activate Metrobi

  1. Click Settings, then Last mile delivery.

  2. Click Activate Metrobi Local Delivery.

  3. Enter your Metrobi API key and click Activate Metrobi.

Metrobi has now been activated—to finish setting up, you need to configure your settings.

Configure settings

  1. Choose the Delivery size.

This indicates the size of the vehicles needed to complete the deliveries.

  2. Select if you want to Merge orders when possible.

  3. Add a support email address.
This will be used to notify you if there is an error when scheduling an order.

  4. Select the locations Metrobi should handle deliveries for.
Not all locations need to be selected if you're using more than one delivery service.

  5. For all ticked locations, you need to add a contact name and a valid contact phone number.

  6. Click Save.

Orders should now be sent to Metrobi when they are created. If you are creating test orders, make sure your pickup and delivery addresses are different.

Configure rates

You can use Metrobi rates or Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates for your local deliveries.

Use Metrobi rates

Requirements

  • All products that require shipping need to be marked as a Physical product in Shopify.

  • Your store will need access to the Carrier Service API, and Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery will need to be added as a carrier to your domestic shipping profile.

For any questions about the rate value, please contact Metrobi support - we only show the rates they generate.

  1. In the Delivery rates section, tick Enable Metrobi rates.

  2. You can customize the rate name, and add a description if needed.

  3. If you would like to offer free delivery over a certain value:

    • Tick the free delivery option

    • Add the minimum order value over which delivery should be free

  4. If needed, add a handling fee and click Save.
You can read more about handling fees in our calculating handling fees article.

  5. Go to the Rates tab.

    • If you're using Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates, in the Delivery prices section, expand the menu and click Delete to remove all delivery rates. Then, click Save.

    • If you're using rates with Carrier Service API, in the Delivery section, click Disable delivery rates. Then, click Confirm, disable rates and Save.

Your local delivery rates will only be generated by Metrobi now.

If you are creating test orders, make sure your pickup and delivery addresses are different.

Use Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates

Requirements

  • All products that require shipping need to be marked as a Physical product in Shopify.

  • If you're not using Metrobi for rates, the phone number field in the checkout should be a required section. You can set this in Shopify admin > Checkout > Customer information.

  1. Click Rates.

Disable Metrobi

If you would like to stop using Metrobi, you can disable it.

  1. Open Settings and click Last mile delivery.

  2. Find Metrobi and click Configure settings.

  3. Click Disable Metrobi.

Your Metrobi integration should now be disabled. If you were using Metrobi rates, add new checkout rates in the Rates tab for Local Delivery.

If you're using Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates, take a look at our Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery rates article to configure delivery rates.

If you're using rates with Carrier Service API, take a look at our Adding rates for delivery (with Carrier Service API) article.

Notes

  • For any questions about the rate value, please contact Metrobi support—we only show the rates they generate.

  • Cancelled orders in Shopify will also be cancelled in Metrobi.

Limitations

  • Customers cannot use third-party sales channels such as Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest.

  • Updated orders will not be automatically sent to Metrobi, you will need to manually edit the order in Metrobi.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure you are using the correct API key—if you receive your API key through email, make sure it is not the encrypted password.

  • Add a Contact name and Contact phone number to all locations Metrobi handles deliveries for.

  • Add a support email address to get notifications about failed orders.

  • If you are testing rates, make sure to use different pickup and delivery addresses.
