Is your store in the UK and do you want to use partial postal code validation? You will then want to enable our UK postal code support feature.
Note
This option can be used regardless of your location. It's usually used in countries where postal codes have letters followed by single and double digits (e.g in the UK, SW2 and SW20), in order to differentiate between them.
When you enable it, you can use an underscore to denote a space, and an asterisk to define boundaries. SW2_ will match SW2 1AA, but not SW20 1AA. SW2_*** will match SW2 1AA, but not SW2 1AAB (non-existent postal code).
Enable UK postal code support
Compatibility
This feature is available on Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery 7.0.4 and above. If you’re using an earlier version, contact us and we will update you.
Go to Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery > Settings > Local delivery > Distance validation
Make sure your validation is set to Partial postal code match
Check Enable UK postal code support
Click Save
Enter eligible postal codes
In this example, we want to enable delivery for SW2 postal codes, but not SW20.
Go to Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery > Locations > [Location name] > Local delivery > Distance validation
Enter SW2_***
Click Save
In this particular case you do not need to use the asterisks, but you can if you want more control over which entries will be valid.
Improve customer experience
When you use an underscore, your customers will need to enter a space between the first part of their postal code and the second. Using our example—SW2_***—check which entries will validate, and which will not.
Postal code | Eligible for delivery |
SW2 1AA | YES |
SW21AA | NO |
SW20 1AA | NO |
You can change the default text in our widget to nudge your customers into using the space. We recommend that you:
Go to Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery > Settings > Text and design > Local delivery > Widget
Find Search field placeholder
Edit the text to include a sample postal code
Click Save
We used e.g. SW2 1AA as our text, but feel free to use whatever you like.
