You can check the General Shipping profile within Shopify Settings > Shipping and Delivery to find your rates version. You could be using:
Check the rates version
The rates version can be determined by the way Zapiet - Rates by Zip Code rates are added to your Shopify shipping zones.
In Shopify Settings, click Shipping and Delivery, then General shipping profile.
If your main shipping zone has rates labelled with DBZ#XXXX, you're using Shopify Function rates.
If your main shipping zone has Zapiet - Rates by Zip Code added as a carrier, you're using rates with carrier-calculated shipping.
Shopify Functions
Our latest rates feature allows merchants to use Zapiet - Rates by Zip Code rates without needing access to carrier-calculated shipping.
If you've installed the app after 25th of July 2024, your store is more likely to be using Shopify function rates.
This version uses delivery customisations to target and edit your rates according to your customers profiles. It should be enabled in Shopify Settings > Shipping and delivery > Delivery customizations.
Limitations
The Carrier-Calculated Shipping (CCS) is required when using subscription apps, in order to show the correct rates at the checkout [Shopify limitation].
Shopify only displays the cheapest shipping rate. So, if Zone A offers free shipping and Zone B has a charge, Shopify will still show the free shipping rate for subscription products, even if the customer is from Zone B.
If your store offers subscriptions, and you're using Shopify Function rates mode, please contact us on chat to switch to rates with carrier-calculated shipping.
Shopify Function rates do not support logs because our app cannot retrieve this information from Shopify [Shopify limitation]. If logs are important for your business, we recommend using rates with carrier-calculated shipping.
If you uninstall Zapiet - Rates by Zip Code, you will need to manually delete the rates from Shopify shipping profile as they will not be automatically removed.
Handling fees are not supported due to a Shopify limitation. We recommend including any handling fees in the rate price.
The names for rates must not exceed 128 characters [Shopify limitation].
Rates with carrier-calculated shipping
Previously, you needed to add Carrier-Calculated Shipping (CCS) to your Shopify plan in order to use our rates.
If you've installed the app before 25th of July 2024, your store is more likely to be using rates with carrier-calculated shipping.
Requirements
To use third-party carrier-calculated shipping, you must be on the Shopify Advanced or Shopify Plus plan.
If you're currently on the Shopify plan called Shopify, then you can opt for the monthly fee to add this feature or switch to yearly billing.
Third-party carrier-calculated shipping isn't available on the Basic Shopify or Shopify Starter plans.
