Hide or show product options based on your customers' selections

Our conditional activation feature allows you to hide or show specific product options depending on your customers previous selections.

You can group up conditional activation rules to be as complex as needed.


Requirements

  • To access conditional activation, your option group must have two or more options added.


Example 1

In this example, we will show how to show the option to select the ribbon color only for large bouquets. This option will be hidden for small and medium bouquets.

For this to work, we have added two options: a “Bouquet size” option with Small/Medium/Large radio buttons and a swatches option for “Ribbon for a bouquet”.

  1. Click Option groups and select the option group that you want to edit.

  2. Click on the option that you want to add a conditional activation rule.

  3. Click on Enable conditional activation

  4. Set up a conditional activation rule according to the example below.

    Show this field if all of the following match:

    Bouquet size contains Large.

  5. Click Save to save any changes done to your option.

Your conditional activation for this option is now set. You can test how it works on your online store.

Customers will have the option to select the ribbon color only when ordering a large bouquet.


Example 2

In this example, we will show how to hide the option to add a gift message for customers who didn't choose to add a card to the bouquet.

For this to work, we have added two options: a “Card” option with Yes/No radio buttons and a large text field option for “Gift message”.

  1. Click Option groups and select the option group that you want to edit.

  2. Click on the option that you want to add a conditional activation rule.

  3. Click on Enable conditional activation.

  4. Set up a conditional activation rule according to the example below.

    Hide this field if all of the following match:

    Card equals No.

  5. Click Save to save any changes done to your option.

Your conditional activation for this option is now set. You can test how it works on your online store.

Limitations

  • Conditional activation is not supported when using Shopify POS.

  • You need to set conditional activation in the option group settings, not in Settings > Options.
