Enabling post-order editing options

Allow your customers to edit their options after ordering

Certain product options can be edited after the order is placed.

To set this feature up, you will need to add an app block within the Shopify orders page, and also within the theme checkout pages.

This feature is currently available for Text fields and Large text fields.


Requirements


Enable the order editing block

  1. Open the Shopify order dashboard, and open an order.

  2. In Blocks, click + Block.

  3. Click admin-edit-options.

  4. The Product options block will be added. At the top-right of the block, click the pin icon to pin the block for all staff.

Staff can now edit options that have Post-order editing enabled.


Enable the checkout block

  1. In Online Store > Themes, click Edit theme.

  2. Click Homepage > Checkout and customer accounts.

  3. Open the Apps.

  4. Under Zapiet - Product Options, add the Edit Options Link to the Thank you page.
    This will open the Thank you page and show the app block as added,

  5. In Apps, click All to view all available app blocks.

  6. Under Zapiet - Product Options, add the Edit Product Options to the Order status page.
    This will open the Order status page and show the app block as added.

  7. Click Save.

Customers can now edit options that have Post-order editing enabled.

The customer will need to be signed in to edit the order.


Limitations

  • This feature is only available for Text fields and Large text fields.

  • Edited options will not show in the item customisations in the order view. They will be visible in the order view app block with the original value and the current value.

  • The ability to edit options will only apply to orders created after the setting is enabled.

  • This setting is incompatible with Charging per character.

  • Orders cannot be edited after they are fulfilled in Shopify.
