Welcome to Zapiet - Product Options! To get your customizations up and running, we use a simple two-part system: Option Groups (the container) and Options (the individual questions).

The most efficient way to build is to create your group first and then design your options directly inside it. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Create your option group

Think of the Option Group as the "folder" that holds all the customizations for a specific product or collection.

  1. In the app, click Option groups in the side navigation.

  2. Click Create option group.

  3. Internal name: Give it a name that helps you identify it later (e.g., Wedding Cake Personalization). This is only for your records and won't be seen by customers.

Step 2: Build your options within the group

Now, let’s fill that container with the specific choices you want to offer.

  1. Inside your new group, click Create option.

  2. Choose your option type:

    • Visual: Swatches (color or image), Color Picker, or Toggles.

    • Selection: Dropdowns, Checkboxes, or Radio Buttons.

    • Input: Text fields (for names), Large text fields (for notes), or File uploads (for photos).

  3. Configure the details:

    • Label: This is what the customer sees (e.g., "What should the cake say?").

    • Values: If you’re using a dropdown or swatch, list your choices here (e.g., Red, Blue, Gold).

  4. Click Save. You’ll see your new option appear immediately within the group!

Pro-Tip: If you’ve already created an option elsewhere (like a "Gift Note" used on other products), you can click Add existing option to pull it into this group without starting over.

Step 3: Assign product availability

Finally, tell the app which products should display this specific set of options.

  1. Scroll down to the Product availability section.

  2. Choose how you want to target your products:

    • All products: Use this for universal options like a "Gift Message."

    • Specific Products: Target individual products with this setting.

    • Collections: Apply these options to an entire category (e.g., all Cakes).

    • Product Tags/Types: Perfect for targeting specific types of items across different collections.

    • Vendors: Use this option for all products from a specific supplier.

  3. Click Save.

Success check

  • Draft Status: If you’re still working, keep the group status as Draft.

  • Preview: Once you’re ready, change it to Active. Your set is now ready to be displayed on your store!

Next Up: Now that your set is built, let's make it visible on your storefront in Open for business: Theme integration.
