Soft launch: Testing your customer journey

Everything is built, linked, and ready to go. But before you announce your new offerings to your customers, it’s important to step into their shoes. A "Soft Launch" is your chance to catch any small hiccups, like a hidden button or a blurry swatch, before they affect a real sale.

Follow this checklist to ensure your store is 100% ready for its first "real" order.

Step 1: The visual audit

Take a look at your product pages on both Desktop and Mobile.

  • Spacing: Does the Product Options block look cramped, or is it easy to read?

  • Swatches: If you’re using image swatches, do they look sharp?

  • Dynamic images: If you set up dynamic product images, do they change instantly when you pick a different color or style?

Step 2: The "friction" test

Try to "break" your own setup to see how the app responds.

  • Quick add check: If your theme has "Quick Add" buttons on collection pages, try using one. Does it correctly prompt you for options, or does it bypass them? (If it bypasses them, you may want to disable Quick Add for those specific products).

  • Mandatory fields: If you made an option "Required," try adding the product to your cart without filling it in. Does the app correctly stop you and show an error message?

  • Logic check: Go through your Conditional Activation flows one more time. Make sure that when you change a "Trigger" answer, the "Target" fields appear and disappear exactly as they should.

Step 3: The full transaction

The best way to feel confident is to place a real (but small) test order.

  1. Create a discount code for 100% off or set a product price to $0.01.

  2. Go through the entire checkout process as a customer.

  3. Check the Cart page: Can you still see your selections? If you enabled the Cart App Block, try clicking "Edit" to see if you can change your mind easily.

  4. Complete the order.

Success Check

  • Customer inbox: Did you receive the order confirmation email with all the custom details included?

  • Shopify admin: When you look at the order in Shopify, do the choices appear clearly under the product title?

  • The "greyhound" test: Does the process feel as fast and smooth as a sprint? (Okay, maybe not that fast, but it should be seamless!)

Congratulations!
