Zapiet - Rates by Distance has a feature that allows you to create an exception rate for any specific address. This can be useful if you want to offer a special rate to specific regular customers, or to an address located in a remote area.

Requirements

  • The Carrier Service API is required when using Zapiet - Rates by Distance, in order to show the rates in the checkout. You can learn more in our Shopify Carrier API guide.

Create an exception for a regular customer

This exception can be used if you have a regular customer, and you would like to offer them a discounted or free delivery rate.

  1. In Zapiet - Rates by Distance, click Exceptions.

  2. Click Create exception.

  3. Add the Exception name.

  4. Select the location for this exception. It will apply when the delivery comes from this location.

  5. Choose the Status of this exception. If you want this exception to be active, select Enabled. If you need to turn it off temporarily but don't want to delete it, select Disabled.

  6. Add customer's delivery address.

  7. Add a Rate name and Rate description, if needed.

  8. By default, this customer will be charged a delivery rate set in Zapiet - Rates by Distance. To create a special delivery rate, set Change delivery price to Enabled.

  9. Add the delivery price.

  10. Click Create exception.

The exception was created. Repeat this process to add other exceptions if needed.

Create an exception for an address located in a remote area

This exception can be used if a customer lives in a remote area and therefore distance calculation for a delivery rate is incorrect, or not in your delivery radius.

  2. Click Create exception.

  3. Add the Exception name.

  4. Select the location for this exception. It will apply when the delivery comes from this location.

  6. Add customer's delivery address.

  7. Add a Rate name and Rate description, if needed.

  8. Enable the distance exception and manually enter the correct distance.

  9. Click Create exception.

The exception is now created. Repeat this process to add other exceptions if needed.
